*Ken has pioneered a new swimhiking route in Ullswater at the Pooley Bridge End. Ken’s swimhike took him from one of the campsites on the north east side of Ullswater along the lake path to a sparse wood, where he swam to the landing stage. Back on land he crossed the bridge at Pooley Bridge and returned along the shore. As for entering and exiting the lake: “Both going in and coming out was easy as there was a shingle beach. You have to come out on the west side of the landing stage as there is a wall on the east.” (I would also advise to be aware of the pleasure-ferry.)

*Matt and I have been up to Northumberland to Blaxter Loch (warm, but too shallow and in the middle of a boring plantation).

* We have also visited Darden Loch which is wonderful and Fallow Lees Loch that we thought was OK until we realised that it was in fact covering us in a nasty jelly like slime.
